above ground pool with above ground pump for sand filter, I have to let air in for pump to run correctly.?
Why does the pump not surge only when I let air in at the lid for the debris basket and I have to restrict the water flow into the pump, if I let the water flow like you should be able to, the motor starts surging, I turn the ball valve that i put in line to restrict water flow and it will start pumping again. Why cant i let the water flow full bore and why cant i tighten the lid complety on the pump which holds the debris basket? thanks
Sounds like you have a very dirty filter… possibly need to change the sand.
