can i keep shrimp in a plastic tub?
can i keep and breed ghost shrimp in a non clear plastic tub i bought from walmart. i want to buy pea puffers but i want to have some shirmp for them too before i buy them. The only other option i would have is to keep them in my kribensis tank but would rather not because to get them would stress out my kribs. if i had them in the tub would i need just an air stone or sponge filter and what would i feed them and other care stuff. thanks
I keep kribs (albino and standard) also and ghost shrimp would just become casualties in a tank with kribs. Kribs are cichlids and will not tolerate intruders in and around the site they have selected as their home.
Ghost shrimp will do fine in a plastic tub as long as you have some bushy plants in there for them to climb on and a small filter to keep the water circulating.
I use air powered plastic box filters for my smaller tanks. Lee’s Triple Flow is my choice, they do a good job and are relatively inexpensive.
